Set of Eight Italian Glass Apothecary Jars with Fruit Finials
Set of Eight Italian Glass Apothecary Jars with Fruit Finials
Italian, circa 1950
A vibrant ensemble of eight hand-blown glass jars, each crowned with a stylized fruit-form lid—strawberry, lemon, lime, and others—evoking the theatrical charm of mid-century Italian domestic design. The jars bear abbreviated inscriptions such as FRA, SPECIA, and MIELE HIDIANA, referencing fruit preserves, spices, and honey in a playful blend of commercial and artisanal idioms.
Likely produced by Murano workshops during a postwar revival of decorative glass, these vessels merge nostalgic apothecary forms with boutique packaging aesthetics. Provenance: Private European collection.
